Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor who is best recognized for her role as detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue and for which she won the Emmy Award. Kim Delaney is known as the Detective Diane Russell on ABC's NYPD Blue. The actress also starred on the drama show All My Children Philly, CSI: Miami, and Army Wives. Born as the only daughter to a top executive from the United Auto Workers and a homemaker Delaney grew up with her four brothers. As a child, Delaney fantasized about becoming a court reporter. The first time she began modeling was in highschool and eventually gained commercial roles when she moved from the south of England to New York. Her first job as an actor came as an innocent teenager in the 1981 soap opera All My Children. Delaney is an acclaimed actress, appearing in many films, TV movies, and dramas. Her personal life unlike her professional life hasn't been a success and has not been happy. The accomplished actor has struggled with alcoholism and has had two failed marriages. Her custody was taken away from her son in 2005.
